I’m always amazed at how much people spend on kitchens. They start of being careful and holding back but once they sit down with the Magnet salesman it seems they lose their ability to weigh up the pros and cons.
Only recently I visited a property to do a quote for a boiler and saw that the homeowner had recently installed a new kitchen. It was a Magnet kitchen and it looked nice but most certainly not worth the £20k price tag.
I tend to think there is a lot of snobbery associated with kitchen brands and people are prepared to spend far more on big name brands when in fact they can have a similar quality kitchen for around half the price.
Here at Mitehart, we’ve fitted thousands of kitchens over the past 40 years so you could say we know a little about kitchens and if we say you are wasting a load of money on any particular kitchen they we are probably right.
In most cases when you buy a kitchen you are paying for the hype rather than the quality. The kitchen carcass is more or less the same on all the main UK brands, there is little difference in the quality on the doors and most of the come from the same factory in Eastern Europe. So why pay more?
