Its always hard to work out how best to landscape your gardens to make the most of what you have. Anyone can lay a drive or a patio but the most successful projects of this nature usually have a landscape designer behind them as they know how best to deal with slopes, sunlight, what plants go where etc.
There are also planning considerations as drainage has to be considered if you wish to lay a solid drive of tarmac or concrete. Many homeowners avoid this problem by laying block paving which means any rain or surface water drains down through the bricks.
Cost also need to be considered carefully because different surfaces require different foundations depending on whether they are going to be used for vehicular access or just pedestrian.
